Rules: No demeaning black men and no discussing work at social events. Well, we at least adhere to the former, if not the latter.

Solace for Sistas is the brainchild of criminal justice reform advocate Angelyn C. Frazer-Giles. She and her colleague, Nkechi Taifa, had a mutual friend who was confronted with a challenging situation. On February, 27, 2007, they brought her flowers and a card in support and solace. From that gesture of kindness and compassion, the idea of creating a support network for Black women was born. In the winter of 2007, about a dozen women in the criminal justice field met for the first Solace lunch. As word of Solace grew, so did our network. Now, our membership has expanded to include Brown women as well as women from a variety of disciplines
